Minimalist fashioin , reminds me of Jil Sander

Denim and Gray

Plaid, gray and blue are the dominant features in Zara’s lookbook for September 2013. Although the weather here in Castelldefels remains summery in general, I think that it’s never too early to explore one’s clothing options for the cold season. (And even though I never wear high heels, I think those gray boots are calling my name.)

A model walks the runway in designs by Donna Karan at her fashion show during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York.

Fashion weeks are the events that most fashion editors, buyers, socialites, celebrities and bloggers cannot wait to attend. It is the place to be and to be seen. For that matter, some are ready to go the extra mile to get noticed and unfortunately, it is not in a good way. Watch this video below  from the Jimmy Kimmel show tapped during Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week, it is so hilarious that it will have you laughing your but off and ask yourself what were these people thinking! I got a good laugh out of it. As always, let us know what you think in the comment section below.

Friday’s Seven Favorite Pins ♥

buddhachic and buttercream

This week my favorites include a variety of Pins detailing different elements in Fashion.  Long skirts, short skirts, bright colors, a mixture in patterns, and a great denim and corduroy look.  When it comes to legends in fashion, Audrey Hepburn will always epitomize amazing style in my view and continues to inspire me, and Grace Coddington of Vogue gave me food for thought this week that I can completely relate to.  What elements in fashion inspire you?  Thank you so much for your comments!

Have a great weekend!

Literary scarf

The Fashion Foot

As an English major, I do not usually see any literary accessories (nor do I hear such heated arguments on the worth of various literature) outside of the English building on campus. But once I walk into an English class, I cannot help but admire the unique pieces of jewelry and t-shirts and phone cases that my fellow bibliophiles display. After seeing an ‘I’d F. Scott Fitzgerald’ shirt, complete with a big screen print of Fitzgerald’s face across the front, I knew it was time to get my hands on some of these literary pieces myself.

Whether you are an avid reader or just a devotee of a certain author, or just a fan of all things quirky, literary accessories are a great way to showcase your love of literature as well as great conversation pieces. These inspired accessories are not only all over Etsy, but have also infiltrated high…

30th July 2013

Get ready for two weeks of all things WEDDING on The Asian Fashion Journal! I will be covering India Bridal Fashion Week in three parts and will be introducing a new regular on the blog tomorrow- Wedding Wednesday!

Day 1: JJ VALAYA & SHANTANU & NIKHIL

JJ VALAYA

JJ Valaya kicked off the week. His signature rich and opulent Mughal Maharanis & Maharajas were this season given an Iberian twist. Beautiful rose embroideries reminiscent of traditional flamenco scarves, a palette of blacks, whites, reds and blues as well as bolero-esque and off the shoulder shapes all hinted at his Spanish inspiration.

I’m not sure about the long jacket over the Sari on the left, what do you think? but love the Trompe L’Oeil jewelry on the far right.

HOT TREND ALERT: Manish Malhotra’s last collection featured sheer paneling between borders on lenghas and anarkalis and JJ Valaya…
