Deep reflections…..

Good words

Have you ever sat beside a quiet pond and stared at your own reflection?  What do you see when you look at yourself?  Do you see your imperfections; the hair you can’t seem to do anything with or the blemish forming on your chin?  Do you think to yourself, I don’t look right; I’m not pretty or handsome?  I think we all have things that we do not like about our appearance but we need to look past the reflection in the pond.  After all, it is only a reflection and not a true image.

It does not reveal who you are on the inside.  There is so much more to you than the image staring back at you from the surface of the water.  You are deeper.  The reflection only begins to describe who you are and it does not go beyond the surface.  You need to look…

Nature in all its glory – wonderful

Awareness It Self

You cannot reveal your original face in running water. When all activity of the mind has come to a stillness, and a dimension beyond the mind reveals itself, that is the first half of the spiritual process. The second half is an endless half, where with or without running water, your original face remains.~ Amir Mourad

After silence, that which comes nearest

When we are quiet and listen with the ears of the heart, we can become aware of that knowing voice that is not only part of us, but also is part of the larger whole. We constantly have the vast knowledge of the universe available to sustain, inform, and guide us, if we but stop and listen to the still small voice that is continuously intoning the loving messages that travel through the interdependent web. In this connection, at all times and in all places, we have available all the help we need, in all situations. In silence and solitude we can practice hearing the guidance that is ours. Silence is the fertile medium in which all knowledge is made available to us through the energy of love. Namaste!

Mindfulbalance

By taking a moment to pay attention to something as simple as turning on the water tap, we give ourselves the opportunity to be aware of how things in our lives come, go, and transform, which makes us less likely to take them for granted.  Instead, we can, for even a moment, be awake to the transitory blessing they are.  And, certainly, we can carry this habit out into the larger world, applying it to whatever we find ourselves doing or encountering.

Turning on the Water:  Water flows from high mountain sources.

Water runs deep in the Earth.

Miraculously, water comes to us and sustains all life.

Doctors For You

Drs Chandani & Anushree Maheshwari, sisters originally from New Delhi, first came to assist us with our relief operations in Uttarakhand. Both sisters travelled unaccompanied by any senior faculty, to Uttarakhand and commenced their work in collaboration with our partners. For over a week, they braved inhospitable and unfamiliar terrain to attend to ailing patients. To visit the more distant villages, there were some days they had to travel over 6-7 km, but even this didn’t deter them. Our senior staff had nothing but the highest praise for these sisters, their dedication and medical expertise.

We commend them for their commitment to the DFY vision, and can only hope they have inspired the youth of our country to come forward and volunteer too.

Drs Chandani & Anushree MaheshwariA big thank you from the DFY family, for your time, and for the lives you’ve touched.

Being in Love

New Earth Heartbeat

lions in love

The capacity to be alone is the capacity to love. It may look paradoxical to you, but it is not. It is an existential truth: only those people who are capable of being alone are capable of love, of sharing, of going into the deepest core of the other person – without possessing the other, without becoming dependent on the other, without reducing the other to a thing, and without becoming addicted to the other. They allow the other absolute freedom, because they know that if the other leaves, they will be as happy as they are now. Their happiness cannot be taken by the other, because it is not given by the other.

— Osho, Being In Love

Middle Pane

Sounds arise out of and fall back into silence, but what is silence?  It seems that there is always noise.  Noise arising out of and falling back into noise.  A dog barking against a constant background of chirping crickets.  The barking arises out of silence.  The cricket chirping arises out of silence, but where is silence?  Is silence the absence of noise?  Or is silence inner stillness where there is no such thing as sound?

If you shut your eyes, and contemplate reality only with your ears, you will find there is a background of silence, and all sounds are coming out of it. They start out of silence. If you close your eyes, and just listen, you will observe the sounds came out of nothing, floated off, and off, stopped being a sonic echo, and became a memory, which is another kind of echo. It is very simple…
